Pressure Rating?

Forgive me for my lack of external pump knowledge.

I am about to purchase the pumps (sump return, closed loop) for my 230 gal project.
However, before I decide which brand of pumps to purchase I would like some clarification on what it means if one brand of pumps (Blueline) are pressure rated and another brand (Sequence) is not pressure rated.

I was leaning heavily toward the Blueline series, but I was intrigued by the high flow rates and relatively low wattage of the Sequence series. As I investigated the Sequence pumps further I noticed all were described as "Pressure Rated: No"

From a practical perspective how would this effect my set-up?

What does the lack of a presssure rating mean from a safety standpoint, i.e. potential for flooding?

Sorry I cant really explain theinternals of pressure rated vs non. To the best of my knowledge Sequence pumps such as the Dart are not pressure rated, but in order to move water at a high flow rate especially vertically there does need to be some pressure behind the water. The pressure is fairly low though. I havent tried it with my Dart but I suspect you could place your hand over the output and be able to hold the pressure whereas with a pressure rated pump you may not be able to do it without the water squirting out. Typically pressure rated pumps are lower flow, and non pressure rated are higher flow. Both pumps have the capability of sending alot of water on the floor in a hurry.

In a non pressure rated pump the flow quickly drops off with vertical rise. When purchasing your pumps pay special attention to how much flow the pump is rated for at the vertical head for your application and make sure its able to maintain the flow you want. You're best bet is to get a pump rated for more than you need and return ecxess flow to the sump with a T and a valve on the output.
