Well the time has come to trim my colt coral back! I split the coral in half and I will frag one of those halves. The colt I am fragging is approx. 8 inches tall and 8 inches round when fully extended.
The colt coral to be fragged
With a clean razor I cut the colt into five frags. (basicly cutting the branches off) Gets a bit tricky though, as they slime up and shrink!
Now that I have my frags cut its time to mount them! I tie the coral snugly(not tight just enough to keep the coral in place while it attaches!)
with fishing line. I used three methods in this case. One frag still had some rock attached to it so I epoxied it to a larger rock. The second I tied the coral to the rock. And third I inserted the fishing line through the coral(like the toothpick method), and tied it to the rock.
If the fishing line is thick enough you can insert it through the coral without a needle. I am using 30 lbs test clear fising line. We will see which works better.
After tieing the coral to the rock rubble I use some super glue to hold the fishing line in place. I just tie half a knot and super glue the rest.
I will place the frags in a low flow area and wait for them to attach!
Here are the frags back in the tank---I think there mad at me:happy:
