New challenge-mostly dead goni

Recently I purchased a bunch of LR from a fellow reefer, I held it in a trash barrell for well over two weeks with just a heater and a powerhead. While moving it to a more suitable holding container I came across what I believe to be a goni, or alveopora struggling for life. I believe the previous owner probably thought it was dead and never mentioned it. Anyway this is my challenge, to bring this coral back to its glory. Gonna be a long road but if it suvives I'll be stoked.

I have read an article stating that dosing manganese is an essential element in keeping tricky Goni's. Red are apparently less tempermental.

Hey Matt, long time. Purple digits are doing well, Stellata had an acro fall on it and suffered some tissue recession, but is recovering.

Thanks for the advice, where the heck would I get manganese and is there a test kit for it? At the moment I have a healthy Goni Stokesi, supposedly the most tempermental of the Family. I got it as a small baby which had just dropped from a parent colony. Its quadrupled in size so I must be doing something it likes. Hopefully I'll have as good luck with the new one.

I know Kent makes an chealated iron and manganes supplement...
http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewIt...ct~KM3191.html
Sprung also has an artlicle on the web, here's a paragraph...
"An additional effect of the iron and manganese supplement on Goniopora cf. tenuidens also is demonstrable. All imported specimens of a purple and blue variety of this species exhibit polyp contraction that soon leads to gradual tissue recession and polyp loss. I have observed dozens of specimens, all exhibiting the same condition from the moment they were received. Intrigued by this I wondered whether it might be possible to reverse the condition and keep one of these colorful Gonioporas. I bought one at a local shop in Miami and placed it in one of my aquariums, high up under metal halide light and in moderate water flow. It is my experience that members of the Poritidae that have strong purple or blue pigment tend to occur in bright light situations on the reef. The Goniopora cf. tenuidens remained closed for several days, but I noticed that the addition of a supplement I prepared that contains iron and manganese seemed to stimulate polyp expansion in the coral within hours. When I discontinued the addition, after a few days the polyps remained contracted for days. When I added the supplement again they expanded within hours and stayed expanded for a few days. When I added the supplement regularly the polyps remained expanded and developed colorful tentacles. They have not contracted now for over six months, and the colony is growing."

The polyps never opened enough to feed so its continued to decline. It really had a rough week though on its way to my tank. There's still some polyps so it might make it although I dont think so.
