| Something to add to Saturdays meeting -Refractometer Calibration- How would everyone like to test the accuracy of the salinity measuring devices? Today I made a salt solution of known salinity to calibrate my refractometer. It's pretty simple and anyone can do it, but it might be fun to see how well everyone's devices are calibrated. So on Saturday I'll bring the solution with me and anyone interested can bring their refractometers, and/or swing arm hydrometers, and we'll see how accurate they are. Bring whatever tool is necessary to adjust your refracto and we'll get them all calibrated.
If anyone would like to bring their own solution to test against mine that would be cool too. This way we can eliminate the possibility of an improperly mixed solution. Here's a link to an article for more information on the subject. Refractometers and Salinity Measurement by Randy Holmes-Farley - Reefkeeping.com
