I'm not sure which one most people might be buying, but I know that Project DIBS is using the QMSW-SS. Just a little bit more versatile for use under natural sunlight as well.

yeah, wondering if it is worth it to me to buy that one.... was thinking about it seriously.... but then the more i think about it, when am i ever going to use it for sunlight....? hmm i just can't see spending the extra money..... i suppose i could, just a matter of if i can think of something useful to use it for lol

any ideas to justify the extra dough? was thinking of getting a PO4 low range HANNA photometer too ... so i'm kinda trying to make the right choice and not over spend on the PAR meter .... but would like the most useful one... hmmm

after reading that article right quick he doesn't seem to give any good reasons as to why he bought that meter.... i think i'm gonna go with just the electric calibration mode.... i think that is good enough ... you? unless someone can convince me otherwise lol

Hey it was great meeting you guys today at the meeting. When you get your meter, I'll set you up with some of the mono-filament screen for a tank cover if you like. I'd be interested to see how much light is blocked officially, I can't notice it with the eye, but it'd be cool to get a reading on the difference.

I've decided that EVERY serious reefer should own one of these..... if i didn't get this device i would have never had known that one of my bulbs is giving off way less PAR than the other bulb... i mean way less... they aren't even in the same ballpark... one is giving out a reading of around 600 about 8 inches below the water's surface... the other one only about 300 @ approx. 8 inches below the water's surface! wow .... now to find out if it's the ballast that is causing this or if it is a bad bulb?? man ... lol any ideas on how to test this... guess i could switch the bulbs and see if i get the same readings... if so then it's the ballast ... if it follows the bulb over to the other pendant then it's the bulb... that'll work for now i guess lol .... these need to come down in price so everyone can have one!

No wonder that Acro that i brought to the frag swap was starting to lose some color... i was wondering why !? so be careful when placing it in your tank.... it's been under some low PAR for a while lol if you blast it ,,, it might not like it ! wow i'm so kinda shocked ! lol
